The FIR Programme - Supply Chain Sustainability School
The Big Construction Diversity Challenge
Launched in 2013, the Fairness Inclusion and Respect (FIR) Programme at the Supply Chain Sustainability School is committed to empowering organisations in the construction and built environment industry to attract, retain, and engage a diverse workforce. It helps tackle workplace cultural challenges, enhance innovation and productivity, and create environments where all people, regardless of background, are able to thrive at work. The FIR Programme today has over 400 free resources, from short and snappy Toolbox Talks, to longer e-Learning modules and videos, case studies and guides showcasing best practice. We also produce regular workshops, webinars and conferences.
"The Fairness Inclusion and Respect (FIR) Programme works with organisations across the construction and built environment sector to build fairer, more inclusive and respectful workplaces – helping them attract, develop and retain talent.
We are proud to support The Big Construction Diversity Challenge because it feels like a natural extension of our work, and brings to life something we believe strongly – our industry is at its best when everyone has the opportunity to contribute, feel valued and belong.
Across construction, we need to do more than talk about diversity. We need to create the conditions in which people from different backgrounds, roles and experiences can work together, challenge assumptions and recognise one another's strengths.
The Challenge offers a fun, practical way to do exactly that. Through teamwork, problem-solving and shared experiences, it demonstrates that inclusion isn't an abstract idea. It's something we practise through how we listen, collaborate and treat each other. We hope participants take the connections, conversations and lessons from the day back to their workplaces, helping turn a brilliant shared experience into lasting cultural change."
